Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
The reason we have dropped the Actual Handicap Factor for now, is that it was confusing to a lot of members. They were not sure which number related to the USGA index number. So until we can work it into another area, perhaps the personal statistics, we are leaving it off.
To protect the integrity of the database, we currently edit, delete or modify any scores or course entries that need changes at the server. We do it for you. Just email us the details and we'll be happy to fix it. pro@golf-handicap.com
You need to enter a minimum of 5 scores before we can provide a handicap. You will find with only 5 scores entered that the formula uses only your best score though. When you have entered 20 scores the formula uses your best 10 to calculate your handicap.
What could be happening is you are missing one step in adding a new score. Between the
page where you enter your score and the page that tells you it has been accepted
into the database, is an intermediate page that gives you the opportunity to double
check your entries, so there are no mistakes. If the total entered and the
individual hole scores do not add up for example, the page will tell you there is a problem.
You can then use the "back"" button on your browser to go back to the score entry
page and correct the mistake. If there are no mistakes on the page that double
checks your score, then you can click the button at the bottom of the page and the
score is submitted to the database and you will receive a confirmation message.
The formula we use for handicapping is not the USGA official formula. The USGA does not endorse this handicap service, or any other handicap service that does not require you to belong to a private golf club. As well the USGA does not allow the the use of the Internet to input scores.
So while our formula will produce exactly the same results, for the time being at least, it would not be accepted by tournaments who will only accept USGA official handicaps. Things are changing however, so stay tuned. |
